The KMID EXPERIENCE

Let’s Create Your
Livable Luxury

Kate Maloney Interior Design is a Boston-based residential interior design firm that serves New England and beyond. We specialize in large-scale renovations and new builds.

Our goal is to help you achieve your version of Livable Luxury. To us, this means creating rooms that are just as beautiful to look at as they are comfortable to live in. Every piece has a story and a purpose and is part of the bigger picture to ensure it all comes together to form a successful space—one that reflects you in form, function, and style.

We are so much more than designers. Our creative yet business-oriented team can work with you in various capacities, from Project Lead, who owns the entire process (including light construction), to Project Collaborator, who supports your builder, architect, and other partners. No matter the type of project or role we take on, you can rely on KMID to be a caring partner, here to ignite happiness through the design process.

HOW it WORKS

1: Integration Alliance

ESTABLISHING TEAM PARTNERSHIPS

  • Whether we partner with your existing architect, builder, and landscape designer, or you are looking for KMID to help build your team, we are excited to have a seat at the table (and locking arms with our extended team) from the start. This allows us to inject your lifestyle and livable luxury moments into the foundational elements considered from day one.

We even use our signature Integration Alliance document at the start of each project to identify which party is responsible for each part of the process (i.e., selections, budget management, purchasing, storage, delivery, and timeline).

2: Style Profile

IDENTIFYING CLIENT DESIGN VISION

  • Our interior designers are excited about elevating and amplifying your family’s lifestyle voice. Every project has a new set of functional goals, lifestyle realities, and personal style vision that we are tasked with infusing into a design that ensures every family member’s voice is heard.

That’s why we begin with our Style Profile Meeting before we even start the interior design process! Vocabulary is extremely subjective (e.g., warm vs. cool colors). Once we understand what these words mean to you and your family, we can successfully align our design recommendations with their vision for how the space will look and feel. We refer to this style guide for all design decisions throughout the project.

3. Finish Selections

CONSTRUCTION

  • Injecting personal style into architectural elements like tile, lighting, and millwork results in a cohesive finished product as we envision how a home might embody your family’s style upon project completion. Our team will help select, document, and communicate these decisions to the build team. This ensures details align with the construction schedule, future layers are considered, and the installation process is seamless and cohesive.

4. Project Management

SCHEDULES, ELEVATIONS, SITE WALKTHROUGHS

  • Technical reporting of approved selections is an imperative part of the construction process. Our team will manage details with the build team to ensure the accuracy of selection, placement, and coordination of accompanying details throughout the build process.

We proactively align with the builder on their timeline and decision cadence, prioritizing our design decisions accordingly to stay ahead of the builder’s progress and ensure they have the materials they need onsite before they need them. Our ETA document is constantly updated as orders are placed through KMID so we can monitor delivery dates and stay on track with project timelines.

5. Soft Furnishing Selections

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

  • We are proud to source products from a wide range of partnerships with the Boston Design Center and trade-only resources to antique shops and local makers. Our goal is to create unique interiors, so we cast a wide net and are inspired to find new resources as often as we can.

6. Implementation

QUOTING, ORDERING, TRACKING & INSTALLATION

  • Our experienced team will accurately quote, order, track, and install all items purchased through KMID. Thanks to our attention to detail, vendor relationships, and behind-the-scenes management, clients enjoy a smooth experience. We’ll also review your project budget and provide you with a Project Financial Snapshot featuring all expected costs at key milestones throughout the project.

At the end of the day, we’ll make it all look easy, and you’ll have nothing to worry about!
